SHANGHAI, Jan. 30, 2010 -- NOD Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced that European patent application
for its nano-particle oral delivery or NOD tech is now allowed.
NOD tech is a highly efficient approach to incorporate peptides or proteins into bio-adhesive nano-
particles to enable oral delivery of drugs otherwise administered as injections. NOD tech is a platform
technology that can be applied to many macromolecular drugs such as insulin, interferon, growth
hormone, exenatide, heparin and more.
Currently, an oral insulin formulation, the first candidate developed with NOD tech, is in Phase I
clinical studies in China.
"EU patent allowance for NOD tech is a further advance for NOD", quoted from William Lee, CEO.
"This patent, in combination with patent already granted in the US, solidifies our intellectual property
and core competence in the strategic markets.”
